Pascal Editor Skills Let Your Agent Edit 3D Buildings Directly

A 24k-star, local-first 3D building editor whose MCP server and two agent skills let Claude Code or Codex set up safely and run verified scene work.

3D editors are built for hands on a mouse, which makes them a poor fit for agent-driven work. Pascal Editor — an open-source, local-first 3D building editor at 24k stars, built with React Three Fiber and WebGPU — takes the opposite approach: it ships an MCP server and two published agent skills so Claude Code or Codex can set up safely and work on scenes directly.

Why This Skill Matters

The repo publishes two skills, both verifiable in its skills/ directory. pascal-3d covers safe local or hosted MCP setup and verified scene work. furniture-fit produces a bounded, evidence-based footprint assessment — and, per its own description, does not claim unsupported height, swing, or delivery checks. The skills inspect the connected MCP tool schemas before using optional fields, so an older installed release reports the narrower result instead of failing.

The infrastructure underneath is a real agent runtime: the CLI starts the editor plus an authenticated MCP service in the background, picks collision-free loopback ports, and keeps projects in ~/.pascal/data/pascal.db. Scenes are node hierarchies — site, building, level, then walls, slabs, ceilings, roofs, zones — with walls getting CSG cutouts for doors and windows.

Installation

Node.js 22.13 or newer can create a persistent local installation without cloning the repo:

npx @pascal-app/cli editor

Install the pascal command globally if you will use it repeatedly:

npm install --global @pascal-app/cli

The two skills install from the repository:

npx skills add pascalorg/editor \
  --skill pascal-3d \
  --skill furniture-fit

Claude Code users can install the same canonical skill source as a plugin:

/plugin marketplace add pascalorg/editor
/plugin install pascal-agent-skills@pascal

Real Workflow: Connect the Agent, Then Fit Furniture

  1. Configure your agent to launch pascal mcp connect. This local connector needs neither the editor process nor the web runtime download — and no Pascal account or API key.
  2. Prompt the agent with the task:
Check whether this sofa fits against the north wall of the living room.
  1. Expect a scoped answer. The furniture-fit skill's contract is a footprint assessment backed by evidence from the scene — it will tell you when a check (height clearance, door swing, delivery path) is outside what it can verify rather than guessing.

One constraint the README states plainly: use one active agent client per local CLI service. If Claude Code loads both the user-scoped pascal server and the plugin-provided one, remove the manual entry first:

claude mcp remove --scope user pascal

Tips

  • Prefer local-only? Leave the hosted server's API key empty when enabling the plugin — the hosted pascal-hosted endpoint is optional, and a key you do provide is stored in the OS keychain.
  • The skills handle both a local MCP server and the hosted endpoint at editor.pascal.app; the setup guide ships inside the skill.
  • Everything is MIT-licensed, and the editor packages (@pascal-app/core, viewer, nodes) are published to npm if you want to build on the runtime rather than drive it.

When Not to Use This

Pascal models buildings — sites, levels, walls, furniture — not general 3D content; character work, animation, or arbitrary mesh editing belongs in a tool like Blender. And the two skills' tool-backed actions require a connected Pascal MCP server, so they add nothing on a machine where you cannot run the CLI service.
