Give Your Agent a Classical-Formula TCM Study Companion With nihaixia
The nihaixia skill distills Master Ni Haixia's (1954–2012) complete teaching corpus — Shang Han Lun, Jin Gui, Huang Di Nei Jing, Materia Medica, and 1,500-plus case records — into an agent skill that runs Six-Meridian syndrome differentiation on demand.
Classical Chinese medicine lives in dense canonical texts and a teaching style that was never written for computers. nihaixia, a 4k-star agent skill, distills the complete corpus of Ni Haixia (1954–2012) — the Ren Ji teaching series, clinical reasoning, and Tian Ji destiny studies — into an activatable skill, so your agent can answer with Six-Meridian syndrome differentiation, classical-formula selection, and his recognizable speaking voice.
Why This Skill Matters
A generic model answers TCM questions from whatever seeped into pretraining. nihaixia swaps that for a curated library, and the current README's banner itemizes it: 129 Shang Han Lun lines, 23 Jin Gui chapters, 72 Huang Di Nei Jing chapters, 374 Materia Medica herbs, 1,257 structured case records plus 243 narrative cases, 2,452 pages of lecture notes, and 3.5 million distilled characters. On disk that is one 107 KB SKILL.md, 14 knowledge modules, a case library of over 1,500 records, and a quick-reference layer of distilled lookup tables.
The skill behaves like a persona, not a search box: activation phrases include "Ni Haixia", "Master Ni", and "how would Ni Haixia see this", and v2.3.1's changelog documents the resulting format: colloquial narration as the main body, with tables and bolded key points marking the findings that matter. It also ships a fast-track layer for the common case — a quick-reference table covering the six major cold formulas sits in the skill entry itself.
Installation
The zh README recommends the Tencent SkillHub route: paste this line to your agent and follow its prompts.
请根据 https://skillhub.cn/install/skillhub.md,安装 @user_ff4d9420/nihaixia-pro。
The manual path works anywhere:
git clone https://github.com/jangviktor-web/nihaixia.git
cp -r nihaixia/ ~/.claude/skills/nihaixia/
The English README also documents a ClawHub install (npx skills add https://clawhub.ai/jangviktor-web/skills/nihaixia). Note the repo ships an Agent Skills Standard / multi-runtime badge covering five platforms, but the documented manual path targets Claude Code's ~/.claude/skills/ folder.
Real Workflow: Differential Diagnosis of a Cold
Describe the presentation and ask in character:
用倪师的视角辨证:我感冒了,怕冷,没有汗,脖子后面疼。
The README's own worked example walks this exact presentation: no sweating with aversion to cold and occipital soreness points to Taiyang cold damage — a Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction) pattern — with the formula's logic spelled out: Ma Huang opens the pores, Gui Zhi releases the muscle layer, Xing Ren directs qi downward. Expect the v2.3.1 output format the changelog defines: a colloquial opening, a syndrome line, a symptom table where each symptom gets its own row, and dosage comparisons for any formula mentioned.
Other documented question types work the same way: formula queries ("When does Xiao Chai Hu Tang apply?"), herb comparisons ("raw vs prepared Fuzi?"), and case lookups — the case library indexes, among others, 147 cancer cases.
Tips
- Start from the skill entry's quick-reference blocks — the changelog lists six of them planted at the top of
SKILL.md, including open-close pivot charts, source-point tables, and five-shu-point formulas. - The Ni health-standard list (six everyday markers such as sleeping through the night and normal appetite) doubles as a baseline for "am I actually better?" questions.
- Dosing rules are versioned: v2.3.0 completed a full error-correction pass over all 258 formulas' dosages, and formula cards carry a version label (lecture edition / Jin Gui edition / Song edition).
- Sibling skills from the same distiller pipeline cover other coordinates — Hu Xishu (six meridians derived from the eight principles), Ye Tianshi and Wu Jutong (warm-disease frames) — when a different lens fits the case better.
When Not to Use This
The README's disclaimer is explicit: the content is for TCM study and research, not a replacement for professional diagnosis — consult a licensed physician for any real condition. It is also a single-school lens: it reproduces Ni Haixia's framework and his blunt style, including his criticism of conventional medicine, so treat outputs as one documented perspective to study, not a consensus answer.
