310 Plugins of German-Law Skills, Adapted From Anthropic's Legal Starter
A 2k-star German repository adapts Anthropic's claude-for-legal skills into 310 plugins and 23,385 workflows spanning labor, corporate, criminal, and tax law — with practice files, standalone prompts, and a ChatGPT import path.
Anthropic's claude-for-legal skills speak American law, and nobody has time to hand-adapt legal workflows statute by statute. claude-fuer-deutsches-recht is a 2k-star German repository that took that starter as its base and rebuilt it for German legal practice — 310 plugins, 23,385 skills, and hundreds of standalone prompts covering everything from employment law to insolvency.
Why This Skill Matters
The numbers come from the repository's own auto-generated register: 310 plugins (including 15 court and prosecutors' office plugins and 11 insolvency plugins in their own collection folders), 23,385 skills, 308 workshop prompts, 307 quick-start prompts, and 553 central practice files (566 counting plugin-local ones). Practice files are artificially generated case bundles for trying workflows without real client material, and they are deliberately not installed with any plugin.
The README is upfront about provenance and limits: the collection is an AI-assisted translation and adaptation of Anthropic's English-language claude-for-legal skills, adapted to the German legal system and not final-reviewed by jurists. Every workflow is an experiment, not legal advice — outputs can be wrong, incomplete, or based on stale law, and the repository's own FAQ answers "how reliable are the legal citations?" with "not very," explaining that LLMs invent citations and that case law may only be cited with court, decision type, date, case number, and a verified source. Dual-licensed under Apache-2.0 OR MIT, at the user's choice.
Installation
For a single legal field in Claude Code, the README's developer path is:
git clone https://github.com/Klotzkette/claude-fuer-deutsches-recht.git
cd claude-fuer-deutsches-recht
claude plugin marketplace add .
claude plugin install arbeitsrecht@klotzkette-german-legal-skills
No terminal, no problem: the FAQ says Claude Desktop only needs file uploads, and each skill ships as a standalone Markdown file. Workshop prompts (detailed, multi-step) and quick-start prompts (compact) work as standalone work instructions without any plugin installation — with a documented 7,500-character budget for the compact format. The README also documents a ChatGPT import route: as of October 2, 2026, ChatGPT supports the .claude-plugin/marketplace.json format, and a workspace admin can import this public GitHub repository directly.
Real Workflow: Draft a Termination Notice
The README's own example session targets employment law. With the arbeitsrecht plugin installed and the case documents attached, the prompt reads:
Erstelle mir einen Entwurf für eine ordentliche Kündigung nach Paragraf 622 BGB. Lies zuerst die beigefügten Unterlagen.
That is: draft an ordinary termination under § 622 BGB, reading the attached documents first. The collection's workflow conventions apply throughout: without a concrete task the skill asks for the professionally relevant goal; with one, document work starts immediately; and follow-up requests continue the existing draft instead of restarting intake. Output format has a default standard — Times New Roman, 11 pt, fully formulated sentences, decimal-only numbering — unless the prompt names a deviation.
After the draft lands, the discipline the README repeats most stays on you: verify every citation, control every deadline calculation (the skills can compute them — for payment summons, interim injunctions, or unfair-dismissal claims — but lawyer control remains your responsibility), and mind client confidentiality (§ 43a (2) BRAO, § 203 StGB): limit shared folders and data sources to the task at hand.
Tips
- Start with one legal field, not the whole collection — the README's own first instruction. Five alphabetical master registers (plugins, skills, workshop prompts, mini prompts, practice files) help you find it.
- Use the practice files before real matters: each case page offers a combined PDF, a per-document PDF ZIP, and original-format files.
- Prefer the standalone prompts to test depth before installing anything — the workshop prompt gives the full specialist route, the mini prompt the compact entry.
- The legal-state note in the README is dated September 10, 2026: the AI Regulation and data-protection packages account for the published Digital Omnibus and the German responsibilities under KI-MIG.
- The curated prompt list (
PROMPTLISTE.md) sorts entries by specialist lawyer qualification and deliberately leaves out generic routers and historical exotica like Prussian and Roman law.
When Not to Use This
The source material is German — the English quick guide says so itself: it explains how to find and use the collection, not a separate English-language edition. If you practice outside German law, the adapted statutes, citation rules, and deadline regimes do not transfer. And if you need verified, court-ready research with no review loop, no prompt pack fixes that; the repository positions itself as templates and structuring help for lawyers, not a replacement for legal counsel.
