Generate Production-Ready Skills with Claude Code Skill Factory

An 862-star toolkit that builds Claude skills, agents, hooks, slash commands, and mega-prompts through interactive Q&A — with nine ready-made skills included.

You know what you want the agent to do, but writing the SKILL.md, scripts, samples, and packaging is the boring 80%. This factory walks you through a Q&A and outputs a complete skill — YAML frontmatter, implementation files when needed, sample input/output, documentation, and a ZIP for distribution.

Why This Skill Matters

Claude Code Skill Factory (862 stars in the latest leaderboard snapshot) is a toolkit for generating production-ready Claude Skills, Claude Code Agents, custom slash commands, and prompts at scale. The README's command table lists ten slash commands, backed by five interactive guide agents — factory-guide as the orchestrator, plus specialist guides for skills, prompts, agents, and hooks. Six factories do the work: Skills, Agents, Prompt, Hooks, Slash Command, and a Codex CLI Bridge. Nine ready-made production skills are included in generated-skills/, from aws-solution-architect to claude-md-enhancer.

The README marks version 1.4.0, last updated October 30, 2025. The leaderboard snapshot records the repo's last push in November 2025 — check upstream before committing to it.

Installation

The README documents no package-manager install — clone the repo and copy what you need. Its quick start for the flagship skill is a cp:

git clone https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-code-skill-factory
cp -r claude-code-skill-factory/generated-skills/prompt-factory ~/.claude/skills/

For the factories themselves, work inside the clone with Claude Code so the slash commands and guide agents are available.

Real Workflow: Ship a Skill in Four Commands

The README's example workflow for building a skill in two minutes:

  1. Start the builder: /build skill — an interactive skill builder that asks 4–5 questions.
  2. Answer them. Claude generates the skill: properly formatted SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter, Python implementation files when needed, sample input/output data.
  3. Validate: /validate-output checks the generated output and auto-zips it for distribution.
  4. Install: /install-skill puts it into Claude Code.

A second workflow needs no builder at all. With prompt-factory copied in, ask: "I need a prompt for a Senior DevOps Engineer" The Prompt Factory draws on 69 professional presets across 15 domains, outputs in XML, Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini formats, and applies a 7-point quality validation.

I need a prompt for a Senior DevOps Engineer, output in Claude format.

Tips

  • The fastest entry is natural language: type "I want to build something" and the factory-guide agent asks what you need, then delegates to a specialist.
  • For mixed Claude Code / Codex CLI teams, /sync-agents-md generates AGENTS.md from CLAUDE.md — the documented Codex CLI Bridge.
  • Hook Factory covers 7 event types with language-specific templates (Python/Black, JS/Prettier, Rust/rustfmt, Go/gofmt) and runs security checks before installation.
  • Slash Command Factory ships 17 preset commands in three official Anthropic patterns with 4-layer validation.

When Not to Use This

For a single simple skill, hand-writing one SKILL.md is faster than learning a multi-command toolkit — the factory's value is scale and packaging. The repo is also a reference implementation dated late 2025: before adopting its generated output in production, review what it produces against current Anthropic skill guidance (the repo links the official docs). For ready-made skills rather than generation, the README lists a complementary Claude Skills Library from the same author, covered separately on SkillMap.
