The first day of September brought five tutorials covering skill catalogs from a platform team, domain specialists, and established individual authors. The leaderboard's top three now all sit above 70k stars, with anthropics/skills (172,854) still the runaway leader.

Trend 1: Catalogs from Identifiable Maintainers

Today's five tutorials cover skill sets whose maintainers are identifiable and invested — a platform team, a working automotive engineer, and individual authors with products and audiences on the line:

anthropics/skills (172,854), addyosmani/agent-skills (91,266), and composiohq/awesome-claude-skills (74,170) now bracket the top three. The next tier — mvanhorn/last30days-skill (60,821), kepano/obsidian-skills (47,605), sickn33/antigravity-awesome-skills (42,570) — sits between 42k and 61k.

The leader sits more than 4× above the seventh entry (172,854 vs k-dense-ai/scientific-agent-skills at 40,972) and 2.3× above the #3 entry, composiohq/awesome-claude-skills (74,170). If you are picking skills for your team, "is it in the top 10?" is a weaker signal than "who maintains it and how often does the README get updated".

Trend 3: The License Story

Among the skills covered today, only mrgoonie/claudekit-skills ships with no license declared on GitHub (the metadata field is null). WordPress/agent-skills is GPL-2.0-or-later (matching the rest of the WordPress ecosystem). The other three — AvdLee/SwiftUI-Agent-Skill, jherrodthomas/automotive-skills-suite, DenisSergeevitch/agents-best-practices — are MIT.
