Vendor-backed skill catalogs became this week's dominant story, scientific skills posted the biggest gains, and a 4.7k-star index vanished from GitHub — plus 20 new tutorials published on SkillMap.
The last week of August belonged to platform teams. NVIDIA, Supabase, and Browserbase all maintain official Agent Skills catalogs in our leaderboard, and today's tutorial batch covered all three. Meanwhile the single fastest-growing skill was a scientific-research collection, and one of the ecosystem's well-known curated indexes has vanished from GitHub.

anthropics/skills remains the runaway leader at 172,347 stars, gaining 1,471 this week. The more interesting movement is one level down:

Trend 1: Vendor Catalogs Are Becoming Table Stakes
The pattern is now consistent enough to call a trend: platform teams maintain an official skills repo, installable with one npx skills add command. NVIDIA's catalog covers dozens of product areas from cuOpt to Jetson board support and mirrors its product repos daily. Supabase ships its auth and Postgres guidance as two focused skills. Browserbase turns browser automation into a 17-skill plugin. Microsoft's repo indexes 175 skills for Azure and Foundry work. All four already sit in our leaderboard; today's tutorial batch covered three of them (NVIDIA, Supabase, and Browserbase).
Trend 2: Scientific and Research Skills Are Surging
The single biggest gainer this week was k-dense-ai/scientific-agent-skills at +2,944 stars, with voltagent/awesome-agent-skills (+2,368) close behind. That gain puts scientific-agent-skills at #7 on the full leaderboard — a sign that agent skills are spreading well beyond coding workflows into empirical research and data science.
Trend 3: Curated Indexes Can Vanish
xixu-me/awesome-persona-distill-skills — a curated persona-skills index that stood at 4,677 stars in our leaderboard — returns 404 on GitHub as of August 29. Its entry still sits in our rankings today, but the repo itself is gone. The practical lesson: install the skills you rely on locally, and consider a governed registry or a local skills manager for anything load-bearing.
